Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 5, 2025

The Dock Drop (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates this store and website and uses Shopify to power our commerce platform (the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use the Services or communicate with us. If there is a conflict between our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, this Privacy Policy controls with respect to personal information.

By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and understand our practices as described below.

Personal Information We Collect

“Personal information” means information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you. We may collect the following categories (as permitted by law and depending on your interactions with us):

  • Contact details (name, email, phone, billing/shipping addresses).
  • Payment & transaction data (payment method details processed by our payment processors; order history; returns/exchanges).
  • Account information (username, password, settings, preferences).
  • Communications (messages you send us, reviews, survey responses).
  • Device & usage data (IP address, device/browser info, pages viewed, actions on the Services, cookies and similar technologies).
  • Inferences drawn from the above (e.g., interests to personalize your experience).

How We Collect Information

  • Directly from you (creating an account, placing an order, contacting support).
  • Automatically through your use of the Services (cookies, device identifiers, analytics).
  • From service providers who assist us (payments, hosting, analytics, customer support, shipping).
  • From partners/third parties where permitted by law.

How We Use Personal Information

  • Provide and improve the Services. Process orders and payments, fulfill and deliver purchases, handle returns/exchanges, manage your account, remember your preferences, and improve our offerings.
  • Marketing and advertising. With your consent where required, send promotional emails and (if you opt in) texts; personalize offers; and show ads on our Services and on third-party sites/apps. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time via the link in our messages. For targeted ads and data sharing controls, see your choices here.
  • Security and fraud prevention. Authenticate users, prevent fraud/abuse, protect our customers and Services.
  • Communications. Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
  • Legal compliance. Comply with law, respond to legal requests, enforce our terms and policies.

How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information to third parties for the purposes described above, including:

  • Shopify and service providers (e.g., hosting, IT, payments, analytics, customer support, cloud storage, shipping).
  • Fulfillment & vendor partners. Some products are fulfilled directly by our trusted partners (our “Dock Drop Partnership™” items). For those orders, we share the minimum data needed to fulfill and deliver your purchase (e.g., name, shipping address, items ordered, and relevant contact details).
  • Payment processors. We use third-party processors (e.g., Shopify Payments, PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay) to securely process payments. These providers collect and process payment information subject to their own privacy policies.
  • Business/marketing partners. To personalize and measure ads or promotions, as permitted by law and your preferences. Partners use your information under their own privacy notices.
  • Legal, corporate, and safety. To comply with legal obligations; in connection with corporate transactions; to enforce our terms; and to protect our rights, users, or the public.

Relationship with Shopify

Our Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your interactions with our store to operate and improve its platform. Shopify may combine information about your interactions with our store with data from other merchants and its own services to provide enhanced features. In such cases, Shopify is responsible for that processing and for responding to related privacy rights requests.

For details, see the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and the Shopify Privacy Portal.

Spam Protection (hCaptcha)

We use hCaptcha to help prevent fraud and abuse (e.g., on account, contact, and checkout flows). Use of those features is subject to hCaptcha’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Websites and Links

Our Services may link to third-party websites or platforms. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Review their privacy and security policies before providing information. Content you share on public or third-party platforms may be viewable by others.

Children’s Data

The Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in your jurisdiction. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can delete it. As of the Effective Date of this Privacy Policy, we do not have actual knowledge that we “sell” or “share” (as defined by applicable law) personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you without human involvement.

Security and Retention

No security measures are perfect. Information transmitted over the Internet may not be fully secure in transit. Use strong, unique passwords and keep them confidential.

Retention. We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. For example, we typically keep order records for up to 7 years for tax/recordkeeping, and maintain account data while your account is active (or as needed to provide Services). We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed, subject to legal requirements.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights such as:

  • Access / Know the personal information we hold about you.
  • Delete personal information we maintain about you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Data portability (receive a copy in a usable format and request transfer).
  • Opt-out of sale/sharing/targeted advertising where applicable. Manage your preferences here. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we honor it where required.
  • Manage communications by using unsubscribe links in marketing emails. (We may still send non-marketing, transactional emails such as order updates.)

You can exercise rights where indicated on the Services or by contacting us (see “Contact” below). We may need to verify your identity and may deny certain requests as permitted by law. You may designate an authorized agent, subject to verification requirements. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

For how Shopify processes personal information and related rights, see the Shopify Privacy Portal.

International Transfers

We may transfer, store, and process personal information outside your country of residence. Where applicable, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses or their UK equivalents), unless transferring to a country deemed to provide adequate protection.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised Policy on this page, update the “Last updated” date, and provide additional notice where required by law.
